New Course in Safety Sciences for Key People
SafeSciMET, funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative Joint Undertaking (IMI JU), is a new, unique pan-European education and training network.
It is funded for good reasons, since in current drug safety education and training in Europe, an integrative and translational approach is still lacking. SafeSciMET aims to solve this shortfall by developing and establishing a comprehensive modular Education& Training Program in Safety Sciences for Medicines (SafeSciMET).
A first Course on Drug Discovery and Development will be offered from 1st - 5th November 2010, in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. Here the following key topics will be tackled:
- Target evaluation and validation
- Lead optimization and synthesis
- Pharmacology& animal biology
- Pharmacokinetics, safety pharmacology& toxicology
- Development of biologics
- Pharmaceutics
- Translational medicine
- Clinical development& safety
- Regulatory process
- Health economics, IP& marketing
Who should attend?
SafeSciMET students are academics and workers in the pharmaceutical industry and regulatory authorities who need a broad comprehensive understanding of the drug development process with particular emphasis on safety.
The course provides participants with a complete overview of drug development and a sound grasp of the fundamentals of the major disciplines, as well as conveying an understanding of the dynamics of the drug development and allowing participants to practice communication across research fields.
The course will be held at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Universitetsparken 2, DK-2100, Copenhagen.
Application Deadline will be 1st October 2010
